The Nature Conservancy in California Communications

The Challenge

The philanthropy and marketing departments of the California chapter of The Nature Conservancy needed design and production services for a variety of print and digital materials.

I upheld brand standards across communications including event invitations, evites (electronic invitations), ads, board book covers, postcards, and handouts.

I designed these materials as needed throughout the year in InDesign using templates and became a trusted eye for on-brand photo selection. I worked under the supervision of the creative director and collaborated with marketing and philanthropy colleagues who requested these materials.

Production Design

As part of my work to design these materials, I searched for and selected new photos to illustrate content, becoming a trusted eye for on-brand photo selection for a variety of communications across departments. In these projects, I conducted reviews with the creative director and philanthropy clients, incorporated revisions, and launched the communications through email programs including Constant Contact and Vertical Response. I also created versions of the communications to print as needed and created an organizational system to internally archive completed work. Here is a sample of these projects.

As a result of my efforts, I increased marketing’s production efficiency and alleviated senior staff’s time while becoming adept at ensuring adherence to the alignment rules and many typographic details. The archiving process I instituted for projects enhanced the department’s file management. My record of delivering excellent work resulted in a promotion to assume additional responsibility for creative projects.
